If you want other options, exploring lenovo legion go s 8apu1 alternatives helps you find hardware that matches your exact gaming needs. The original Lenovo Legion Go S 8APU1 pairs an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor and AMD Radeon 780M graphics with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. Its 8-inch screen runs at 120Hz with a 1920x1200 resolution, giving you smooth visuals and sharp detail. The device uses SteamOS for a dedicated console-style software environment.
You might still prefer a different handheld for specific hardware features, physical dimensions, or operating systems. You may want Windows 11 compatibility, an Intel Core Ultra processor, or a smaller 7-inch display for lighter carrying weight. Some players also look for different memory configurations or alternative brand options. The 6 alternatives on this list were chosen because their specs overlap with the original, offering matching 120Hz refresh rates, generous storage, and portable gaming performance.
Our top pick: Lenovo Legion Go S 8" 120Hz.
How Each Alternative Compares
Lenovo Legion Go S 8" 120Hz Gaming Handheld
This model swaps the Nebula Nocturne finish of the original unit for a White shell. You keep the 8-inch 120Hz display, 32GB of memory, and 1TB of storage capacity. However, the internal processor changes from the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme to an AMD Ryzen Z2 Go. You give up the Z1 Extreme processing core for the Z2 Go configuration. It retains identical memory bandwidth and screen dimensions for your games. You should pick this version if you prefer a White aesthetic and want the 32GB memory pool without altering the display scale.
Lenovo Legion Go S 8" 32GB 1TB
This handheld features a White body measuring 11.8 by 5.02 by 1.71 inches and weighing 1.63 pounds. Like the original, you receive 32GB of memory, a 1TB drive, and an 8-inch 120Hz display. The primary distinction is the processor, where an AMD Ryzen Z2 Go replaces the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme. You sacrifice the Z1 Extreme chip, but you gain exact chassis measurements for planning carry cases. Choose this alternative if you need confirmed physical weight and size specifications alongside 32GB of RAM, while accepting the Ryzen Z2 Go hardware configuration.
HIDevolution ASUS ROG Ally X 7" 120Hz
This alternative runs Windows 11 instead of SteamOS, giving you standard PC software compatibility out of the box. It shares the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor and 1TB storage capacity with the original device. At 1.49 pounds and 11 inches long, it is a lighter build. However, you give up screen real estate, moving from an 8-inch 1920x1200 panel down to a 7-inch 1080p 120Hz display. Memory is also reduced from 32GB to 24GB. Pick this option if you prioritize Windows 11 and a smaller footprint over maximum memory and display size.
Lenovo Legion Go S SteamOS 8" 120Hz
This version keeps the SteamOS environment, 1TB storage drive, and 8-inch 120Hz touchscreen display. It shifts the exterior color to White and specifies a slim 0.89-inch thickness and 10.3-inch length. Under the hood, it replaces the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme with an AMD Ryzen Z2 Go. You also give up half the system memory, dropping from 32GB down to 16GB. You should select this unit if you want an 8-inch SteamOS handheld with a confirmed thinner profile and do not require the larger 32GB memory capacity for your standard game installations.
Lenovo Legion Go S 1TB Steam OS
This model provides a Black colorway instead of the Nebula Nocturne finish. It preserves the 8-inch 120Hz touchscreen, 1TB storage capacity, and SteamOS installation found on the original. The internal configuration changes significantly, moving to an AMD Ryzen Z2 Go processor. System memory is reduced from 32GB down to 16GB, limiting headroom for memory-demanding tasks. You give up the faster Ryzen Z1 Extreme silicon and half the RAM capacity. Choose this unit if you prefer a Black case and want an 8-inch 120Hz SteamOS interface without needing a 32GB memory configuration.
MSI Claw 8 AI+ 8-inch Handheld
This alternative replaces the AMD platform entirely by using an Intel Core Ultra 7-155H processor. It matches the original by including 32GB of RAM, a 1TB storage drive, and an 8-inch 120Hz screen. The chassis comes in a Sand color with measurements of 11.8 by 4.96 by 0.94 inches. You give up the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor and Radeon graphics architecture in exchange for Intel processing hardware. You should pick this unit if you specifically want an Intel Core Ultra platform while maintaining the expansive 8-inch 120Hz display and 32GB memory setup.
