Its Windows 11 platform and cooling keep portable play responsive and smooth.
You might still prefer another option due to specific hardware limits, overall chassis size, or brand preference. Evaluating these metrics helps you choose the right device for 2026.
Our top pick: ASUS ROG Ally X 7" 120Hz Handheld.
Comparing the Top Handheld PC Alternatives
HIDevolution ASUS ROG Ally X 7" 120Hz
This option features the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme rather than the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme inside the base unit. You get the same 24GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, and 7-inch 120Hz 1080p screen. It trims total weight down to 1.49 pounds compared to the original's 1.58 pounds. The dimensions are also slightly smaller at 11 by 4.37 by 1.45 inches. You trade away the updated AI Z2 Extreme processing architecture for a marginally lighter build. Pick this model if you want 24GB memory capacity in a more compact profile.
Mavark ROG Ally 7" 2TB 24GB
This model doubles internal storage capacity to 2TB while matching the Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor and 24GB of RAM found on the baseline device. It also ships with Windows 11 Pro rather than standard Windows 11. Display specifications remain identical with a 7-inch 1080p panel refreshing at 120Hz. You gain extra room for massive game installations without relying on external drives. You give up the 1TB configuration of the original for higher onboard capacity. Choose this unit if your local game library demands extensive storage alongside the Z2 Extreme processor.
WEELIAO GPD Win Mini 7-inch Handheld
This handheld replaces the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme with an AMD Ryzen 7 8840U processor and reduces system memory from 24GB down to 16GB. Both systems feature 1TB of storage and a 7-inch 120Hz 1080p display. At 8.46 inches long, it has a noticeably shorter horizontal profile than the 11.4-inch Ally X, though it is thicker at 2.88 inches. You sacrifice 8GB of memory and Z2 Extreme processing speed. Select this option if you prefer an 8840U configuration packed into a shorter footprint for transport.
ASUS ROG Ally 7" 120Hz Handheld
This white chassis variant is substantially slimmer than the original, measuring just 0.83 inches thick compared to the Ally X's 2-inch depth. It matches the 7-inch 1080p 120Hz touchscreen and 1TB storage drive. However, it scales back the internals to an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor and 16GB of RAM, compared to 24GB on the base model. You give up higher memory headroom and the Z2 Extreme architecture for a much thinner profile. Pick this model if you want an ultra-slim design and white colorway.
Cutesliving GPD Win Mini 2025 7-inch 120Hz
This model upgrades system memory to 32GB, offering 8GB more RAM than the original device. It runs on the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor while retaining a 7-inch 120Hz display and 1TB storage. The physical dimensions are significantly more compact, measuring 6.77 inches long, 4.29 inches wide, and 1.06 inches thick, against the 11.4-inch length of the Ally X. You trade away the wider ROG chassis shape for higher memory bandwidth and a pocketable footprint. Choose this if you prioritize 32GB RAM in a smaller body.
LANRUO GPD Win 5 7-inch Handheld
This handheld steps up hardware capability with an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor, AMD Radeon 8060S graphics, 32GB of RAM, and a 2TB SSD. It matches the 7-inch 1080p 120Hz display configuration. In exchange for this increased memory and double storage capacity, you take on significant bulk: it weighs 4.96 pounds compared to the Ally X's 1.58 pounds, with larger overall dimensions. You sacrifice lightweight portability for desktop-tier processing parts. Pick this unit if maximum computing performance and expanded 2TB storage outweigh handheld weight considerations.
