Looking Beyond the GPDBRANDSTORE GPD Win 5 Portable? 6 Alternatives Worth a Look

How these alternatives compare

WEELIAO GPD Win 5 7-inch Handheld

The WEELIAO variant keeps the same AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor and 64GB RAM as the original. It also retains the 7-inch 120Hz display and 2TB storage capacity. You get identical performance for gaming and multitasking. The main difference lies in the brand channel and potentially minor cosmetic variations. If you want the exact same internal specs but prefer a different seller or packaging, this option works. It does not offer upgraded components or a different screen type. You are essentially buying the same machine with a different label. This choice suits buyers who prioritize the specific configuration of high RAM and fast storage without needing a different form factor or additional features.

GPD Win 5 64GB/2TB Handheld

This GPD model shares the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 CPU and 64GB RAM with the original. It also includes 2TB of PCIe 4.0 storage. However, the listed weight is 2.02 pounds, which is significantly lighter than the original's 4.96 pounds. This suggests a different chassis design or battery configuration. The screen size is not explicitly listed here, but the dimensions indicate a different physical build. You gain portability and reduced weight while keeping the core processing power. This option is ideal if you find the original too heavy for extended handheld sessions. It sacrifices the known 7-inch landscape display details for a lighter profile. Choose this if weight is your primary concern alongside high performance.

LANRUO GPD Win 5 7-inch Handheld

The LANRUO version offers the same AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor and 2TB storage but reduces RAM to 32GB. This is a notable downgrade from the original's 64GB. It retains the 7-inch 120Hz display and adds touchscreen capability, which the original data does not confirm. The weight remains 4.96 pounds. You save on memory capacity, which may impact multitasking or large game assets. The touchscreen adds versatility for navigation. This choice fits users who do not need 64GB RAM and want touch input. It is a budget-focused alternative that keeps the screen and CPU but cuts the memory in half. Consider this if you prioritize touch interaction over maximum RAM availability.

HIDevolution ASUS ROG Ally X 7" 2TB

The HIDevolution ASUS ROG Ally X uses an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor instead of the AI Max+ 395. It has 24GB of RAM, which is less than the original's 64GB. Storage is still 2TB. The weight is just 1.49 pounds, making it much lighter than the original. The screen is 7-inch 120Hz. You get a different CPU architecture and significantly less RAM. This device is built for a different performance tier and portability class. It is lighter and uses a more common Z1 Extreme chip. Choose this if you want a lighter device and do not need the massive 64GB RAM or the specific AI Max+ processor. It is a different handheld entirely, focused on balance rather than raw memory capacity.

GPD Pocket 4 8.8-inch Modular PC

The GPD Pocket 4 shifts to an 8.8-inch QHD display, which is larger and higher resolution than the original's 7-inch 1080p screen. It features 64GB RAM and 2TB storage. The processor is an AI 370, which differs from the original's AI Max+ 395. This is a mini-laptop form factor with a physical keyboard, not a gamepad-style handheld. You gain a larger, sharper screen and full keyboard input. You lose the traditional handheld gaming layout. This option suits users who want a portable computer with a large display for work and media. It is not a direct gaming alternative but a modular computing device. Pick this if you need a keyboard and a bigger screen over a gamepad.

ONEXPLAYER F1 Pro 7" OLED 144Hz

The ONEXPLAYER F1 Pro features a 7-inch OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, upgrading from the original's H-IPS 120Hz screen. It has 64GB RAM and 2TB storage. The processor is an AI 370, which differs from the original's AI Max+ 395. OLED offers better contrast and color depth. The higher refresh rate provides smoother motion. You get a superior display experience for gaming and media. The CPU difference may affect specific AI workloads or gaming performance. This choice is best for users who prioritize screen quality and motion smoothness. It sacrifices the specific AI Max+ processor for a better visual experience. Choose this if display fidelity is more important than the exact CPU model.
