Finding the right valve index valve steam deck alternatives depends on your specific gaming requirements. The original Valve Steam Deck 64 GB offers a focused PC platform in black with 64GB of memory, dimensions measuring 16 by 5 by 3 inches, and an included carrying case for safe transport. At 1.46 pounds, it delivers a self-contained PC setup designed for portable sessions.
However, you might want hardware changes that better match your library. You may prefer higher storage capacities reaching 1TB or 2TB, different operating systems such as Windows 11 or Android, or alternative screen options including 7-inch 120Hz panels, 8.8-inch QHD displays, and OLED technology. You might also want a different brand or a lighter form factor. The 6 selections on this list were chosen because their specifications directly overlap with the original model, allowing you to compare dimensions, memory configurations, and system platforms to find the right handheld PC setup for 2026.
Comparing Each Alternative Handheld Option
Valve Steam Deck 64GB Handheld PC
This model measures 11.7 inches long, 4.61 inches wide, and 1.93 inches high. That gives you a significantly shorter body than the original 16-inch unit, making it easier to slip into standard backpacks. However, at 1.54 pounds, it weighs slightly more than the 1.46-pound original model, and its specifications do not list an included carrying case. Both devices share 64GB of memory, 64GB RAM, and run on the PC platform in black. You should pick this option if you want a more compact physical footprint for transport and do not mind a minor weight increase.
Valve Steam Deck 64GB Black
Listed under model Steam-64, this handheld delivers a smaller form factor than the original 16-inch device. It measures 11.7 inches long, 4.61 inches wide, and 1.93 inches high. This smaller size fits smaller bags better, though the unit weighs 1.54 pounds compared to the 1.46-pound baseline. Like the original, you receive 64GB of RAM, 64GB of memory, and the PC platform in a black shell. You give up the included carrying case bundled with the primary pick. Choose this device if you require smaller hardware dimensions for travel and can provide your own protective storage sleeve.
GPD Pocket 4 8.8-inch Modular PC
The LANRUO GPD Pocket 4 expands storage to 2TB, vastly exceeding the original unit's 64GB capacity. It also adds an 8.8-inch QHD display and runs Windows 11 on the PC platform. Physically, it measures 8.14 by 0.87 by 2.91 inches and weighs 725 grams. That makes it much shorter in length than the 16-inch original pick, though 725 grams translates to slightly more weight in hand. You give up the integrated handheld console shape and the bundled carrying case. You should choose this model if you need high-resolution visuals, Windows 11 productivity, and massive onboard storage capacity.
WEELIAO GPD Win 5 7-inch Handheld
This WEELIAO handheld upgrades several core components over the original Steam Deck. It features an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor, a 7-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and 2TB of storage capacity alongside 64GB of RAM. The operating system is Windows 11, running PC games natively. In contrast, the original pick provides 64GB of memory and includes a carrying case that this model does not list. You should select this alternative if your priority is faster refresh rates, an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor, and substantially more storage space for demanding PC titles.
Valve Steam Deck OLED 1TB
The Steam Deck OLED 1TB advances past the original pick by incorporating a dedicated OLED display and 1TB of storage capacity. The OLED screen improves panel technology over standard panels, while 1TB delivers over fifteen times the local space of the original 64GB baseline. Both devices share the black PC gaming platform. You give up the specific 64GB RAM specification detailed on the original listing, as well as the confirmed carrying case accessory. Pick this OLED option if you want superior display panel contrast and massive internal installation space for your PC gaming library.
MANGMI AIR X 5.5-Inch IPS Handheld
The MANGMI AIR X is significantly smaller and lighter than the original 16-inch unit. It measures 8 by 3.4 by 0.7 inches and weighs only 10.1 ounces, compared to the 1.46-pound baseline. It features a 5.5-inch 1080p IPS screen and retains 64GB of RAM with 64GB of memory. However, it shifts from the PC platform to Android and mobile architecture. You also give up the original model's included carrying case. You should choose this handheld if you prioritize ultra-portable pocketability, high-definition 1080p mobile gaming, and lower carrying weight over a full desktop PC ecosystem.
