Who it fits
Good fit for
You should consider this device if you want a dedicated retro gaming machine with a large screen. The 128GB storage holds many titles without needing extra cards. The HDMI output lets you play on a TV for shared sessions. The 60Hz refresh rate helps with smoother visuals in supported games. It suits players who prefer a standalone device over a PC-based emulator. The wireless features also allow for local multiplayer with compatible controllers.
Who should skip it
You should look elsewhere if you need high-end graphics for modern AAA titles. The RK3566 chip is designed for retro systems, not heavy 3D rendering. The 4000mAh battery may require frequent charging during long sessions. The 720x1280 resolution is clear but not as sharp as higher-end handhelds. If you need 4K HDMI output or advanced emulation for PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, this hardware will not meet those demands.
Verdict: The AIUOUS Powkiddy X55 offers solid specs for retro gaming with a large screen and ample storage. It is a practical choice for classic game enthusiasts who value portability and TV output.
Key specs explained for X55
Processor: RK3566
This quad-core chip targets 60Hz frame rates. You get smooth gameplay without visible stuttering during retro titles. It handles legacy emulation better than slower single-core units. If you play fast-paced arcade games, this processor reduces lag. Compare it to older ARM chips in budget handhelds for a clear performance jump.
Screen Size: 5.5 inches
This diagonal measurement balances visibility and portability. You see more detail than on 4-inch models, yet it fits in most pockets. It is smaller than 7-inch tablets, making it easier to hold for long sessions. If you prefer compact devices that do not weigh down your bag, this size offers a practical middle ground.
Display Type: IPS
In-Plane Switching panels offer wide viewing angles and consistent colors. You can tilt the screen without the image washing out. This is better than TN panels for outdoor play or sharing the device with friends. IPS technology ensures that dark scenes retain detail. Look for this label to guarantee reliable image quality in handheld gaming.
Storage: 128G
This capacity holds thousands of ROM files and save data. You can install multiple game libraries without managing external cards. It supports the built-in 20,000 games mentioned in the listing. If you collect many retro titles, this internal space prevents clutter. Compare it to 32GB models to see the significant increase in available content.

What To Check Before Buying
Before you buy, consider what complements this device. The X55 supports Bluetooth controllers, so you might want an extra gamepad for shared sessions. Since it outputs via HDMI, verify your TV or monitor accepts the signal for couch gaming. The 128GB storage holds many retro titles, but you should still manage files regularly to keep performance smooth. Check if your local game libraries are compatible with the system’s emulation software. This console fits best for players who prioritize portability and built-in content over raw power.
