6 Best Alternatives to the PlayStation VR2 Horizon Call of (2026)

How alternatives compare to the bundle

Meta Quest 3S 256GB White

The Meta Quest 3S 256GB Renewed Headset differs significantly by operating as a standalone mixed reality device rather than a console peripheral. It offers 256GB of storage, which is far more than the bundled content capacity of the PlayStation option. You gain access to mixed reality pass-through features, allowing you to see your room while immersed. This unit is refurbished, which may affect perceived condition compared to the new PlayStation hardware. It suits buyers who want wireless freedom and higher internal capacity without needing a PlayStation console. You give up the official Horizon integration and direct PlayStation ecosystem support for this independent, versatile headset.

Meta Quest 3S 256GB VR Headset

The Meta Quest 3S 256GB VR Headset provides a substantial upgrade in physical dimensions and processing power compared to the lightweight PlayStation bundle. It weighs 3.04 pounds and measures 9.76 inches in length, making it much larger and heavier than the 0.35-ounce PlayStation unit. This device includes RGB passthrough for detailed environmental viewing and 256GB of storage. It fits players who prioritize high-end processing and ample space for applications. You sacrifice the direct PlayStation integration and the specific Horizon Call of the Mountain experience for this more powerful, standalone wireless VR system. It is ideal for those who value detailed passthrough visuals and do not mind the heavier build.

Meta Quest 2 128GB VR Headset

The Meta Quest 2 128GB VR Headset offers a lighter, more compact alternative to the PlayStation VR2 bundle. It weighs 3.88 pounds and measures 10.2 inches in length, providing a self-contained wireless experience without the need for a console. This headset includes integrated hand tracking and 128GB of internal storage. It suits players looking for wire-free movement and a simpler setup. You give up the high-fidelity graphics and specific Horizon title associated with the PlayStation ecosystem. Instead, you gain a versatile, all-in-one VR system that operates independently. This option is best for those who prioritize wireless freedom and do not require dedicated console connectivity.

Meta Quest 2 256GB White

The Meta Quest 2 256GB Wireless VR Headset provides double the storage capacity of the standard 128GB models and operates independently of any console. It weighs 1.83 pounds and measures 17.7 inches in length, offering a substantial build compared to the tiny PlayStation unit. This headset includes a built-in battery and tracking sensors for an all-in-one setup. It suits players wanting large standalone storage and untethered movement. You give up the official Horizon Call of the Mountain integration and PlayStation-specific features. This option is ideal for those who value high onboard capacity and wireless freedom over direct console connectivity and branded content bundles.

Sony PlayStation VR Marvel's Iron Man Bundle

The Sony PlayStation VR Marvel's Iron Man Bundle remains within the PlayStation ecosystem, unlike the standalone Meta options. It weighs 7.8 pounds and measures 11.9 inches in length, making it significantly heavier and larger than the 0.35-ounce Horizon bundle. This package provides immediate access to the Iron Man VR experience and supports both PS5 and PS4 platforms. It fits players who want a complete hardware package for VR enthusiasts with PlayStation consoles. You gain compatibility with the Iron Man title but lose the Horizon Call of the Mountain game. This option is best for those seeking a direct PlayStation alternative with a different flagship title and broader console support.

Oculus Quest 2 128GB White VR Headset

The Oculus Quest 2 128GB White VR Headset offers a self-contained wireless system with included comfort accessories, differing from the bare PlayStation bundle. It weighs 1.83 pounds and measures 16.4 inches in length, providing a robust standalone experience. This headset features 128GB of internal storage and operates without a dedicated console. It suits users seeking wireless freedom and decent storage capacity. You give up the specific Horizon title and PlayStation integration for a more general VR library. This option is ideal for those who prioritize wireless movement and comfort accessories over the branded content and direct ecosystem integration of the PlayStation VR2 setup.
