Looking Beyond the PlayStation VR2 Horizon Bundle? 6 Alternatives Worth a Look

How alternatives compare to PSVR2

Meta Quest 3S 256GB White

The Meta Quest 3S 256GB White drops the console requirement entirely. You get a standalone headset with 256GB of internal storage, which the PSVR2 does not specify. It weighs less than half as much as the 5.02-pound PlayStation unit. This makes it easier to wear for longer sessions. You give up the 4K HDR visuals and the specific haptic feedback of the PSVR2. Instead, you gain cable-free freedom and mixed-reality capabilities. This option suits players who prioritize wireless convenience and storage space over high-fidelity console graphics. It is a lighter, more portable choice for mixed-reality multitasking.

Meta Quest 3S 256GB VR Headset

This Meta Quest 3S model offers 256GB of storage and RGB passthrough. It weighs 3.04 pounds, which is significantly lighter than the 5.02-pound PlayStation VR2. The dimensions are also smaller, measuring 9.76 inches in length compared to the PSVR2's 16.9 inches. You trade the PSVR2's 110-degree field of view and dedicated console integration for a more compact, wireless design. The RGB passthrough provides detailed mixed-reality visuals. This headset fits users who value high-end processing power and ample storage. It is a strong alternative for those who do not mind a heavier build than some competitors but still want to avoid the bulk of the PlayStation kit.

PlayStation VR2 Horizon Bundle

This version of the PlayStation VR2 Horizon Bundle is listed with a weight of 5.2 pounds, slightly heavier than the 5.02-pound standard bundle. It measures 16.9 inches wide and 7.48 inches in length. The color is specified as black. This is the official hardware package for players with space for a larger kit. You get the same 4K HDR visuals and haptic feedback as the primary bundle. The main difference is the slight weight increase and the specific black color variant. It suits users who need the official setup planning and have room for the larger dimensions. It is effectively the same experience with minor physical variations in weight and color.

Valve Index PC VR Headset (Renewed)

The Valve Index PC VR Headset requires a computer setup, unlike the standalone console focus of the PSVR2. It weighs 4 pounds, which is lighter than the 5.02-pound PlayStation unit. The dimensions are 15.2 inches in length and 12.5 inches in both width and height. You give up the integrated console ecosystem and the specific Sense technology of the PSVR2. Instead, you gain dedicated SteamVR hardware for PC gaming. This option fits players who want a dedicated PC VR experience. It operates entirely outside console ecosystems. The one-year warranty is a notable inclusion. It is a choice for those prioritizing PC gaming over console convenience.

Meta Quest 2 128GB VR Headset

The Meta Quest 2 128GB VR Headset is a standalone all-in-one system. It weighs 3.88 pounds, which is lighter than the 5.02-pound PSVR2. The dimensions are 10.2 inches in length and 7.36 inches in width. You get 128GB of storage and hand tracking features. You give up the 4K HDR visuals and the advanced haptic feedback of the PSVR2. This headset suits users who need a standalone system with included games. It is a lighter, more affordable alternative for those who value hand tracking over higher storage capacity. It is a good choice for players who want wireless VR without the bulk of the PlayStation kit.

Meta Quest 2 256GB White

The Meta Quest 2 256GB Standalone VR Headset offers 256GB of onboard storage. It weighs only 1.83 pounds, which is significantly lighter than the 5.02-pound PSVR2. The length is 17.7 inches, slightly longer than the PSVR2, but the width is narrower at 8.8 inches. You give up the 4K HDR visuals and the specific console integration of the PSVR2. Instead, you gain a cable-free experience with no requirement for an external console or PC. This option suits players who want wire-free VR gaming with generous storage. It is a lighter, more portable choice for those who prioritize storage capacity and wireless convenience over high-fidelity console graphics.
