6 Best Alternatives to the Petforu X55 5.5-Inch IPS Handheld (2026)

How each alternative compares

KNVNGGRFE RG43V Pro Retro Handheld

The KNVNGGRFE RG43V Pro trades the X55’s larger 5.5-inch screen for a more compact 4.3-inch display. This reduces the physical footprint significantly, making it easier to hold for extended sessions. You give up some screen real estate and the massive 256GB storage capacity found in the X55. However, the smaller form factor appeals to those prioritizing portability over visual immersion. The dual-system flexibility mentioned in its verdict suggests it handles classic retro gaming well. If you prefer a device that fits comfortably in smaller hands and does not weigh you down, this alternative offers a practical balance of performance and size. It sacrifices the X55’s bulk for better maneuverability.

WDYQJE RG43V Pro 4.3-Inch Retro Handheld

The WDYQJE RG43V Pro shares the same 4.3-inch IPS screen size as its sibling, focusing on compact retro gaming. It differs from the X55 by offering a smaller, more portable chassis at the cost of the larger display area. You lose the 256GB storage capacity and the 5.5-inch viewing experience. This model emphasizes local multiplayer connectivity, which aligns with its badge for group play. If you want a handheld that is easier to transport and supports shared gaming sessions without the bulk of the X55, this is a strong option. It provides similar retro performance in a smaller package. The trade-off is clear: you gain portability and multiplayer focus but lose the expansive screen and high storage volume of the original.

AIUOUS Powkiddy X55 5.5-Inch Retro Console

The AIUOUS Powkiddy X55 closely mirrors the original in screen size, retaining the 5.5-inch IPS display. It targets users who value large screens and external display options. While it shares the same visual dimensions, it may differ in internal components or build quality, though specific processor details are not listed here. You get a similar large-format experience for retro gaming. If you want the same screen size as the Petforu model but perhaps at a different price point or with slight feature variations, this serves as a direct alternative. It fits users who prioritize visual clarity and HDMI connectivity over compactness. The choice between them often comes down to specific brand preferences or minor spec differences not detailed in the summary.

Anbernic RG Cube 3.95-Inch IPS Handheld

The Doriteney ANBERNIC RG Cube shifts to a much smaller 3.95-inch form factor, significantly reducing screen size compared to the X55’s 5.5-inch panel. It introduces Hall-effect controls for precision, a feature not mentioned for the X55. You give up the large display and likely the 256GB storage for a compact, pocket-friendly device. This handheld is ideal for players who value precise inputs and portability over screen real estate. The smaller size makes it easier to carry, but it sacrifices the immersive viewing experience of the X55. If you prefer a minimalist design with robust connectivity in a tiny package, this alternative offers a distinct experience. It trades the X55’s bulk for enhanced control accuracy and portability.

Gamkowy RG55G1 5.5-inch Android 14

The Gamkowy RG55G1 retains the 5.5-inch screen size but introduces active cooling and Android 14, differing from the X55’s likely Linux-based system. It features 64GB of RAM, a significant upgrade in memory compared to typical retro handhelds. You gain modern OS capabilities and thermal management for sustained performance. However, the listed dimensions seem inconsistent with the screen size, so verify physical fit. This model suits players who want a larger screen with modern computing features and active cooling. It sacrifices the simplicity of the X55’s dedicated emulation environment for the flexibility of Android. If you need powerful specs and cooling for heavier emulation, this is a superior choice despite the potential size ambiguity.

RgAmbernic RG556 5.48" AMOLED

The RgAmbernic RG556 replaces the X55’s IPS panel with a 5.48-inch AMOLED display, offering superior contrast and color depth. It runs Android 14, providing a modern operating system unlike the X55’s likely retro-focused interface. You gain visual fidelity and advanced emulation performance but lose the specific IPS characteristics. The device focuses on screen quality and control precision. If you prioritize image quality and modern software features over the X55’s established retro ecosystem, this is a strong alternative. The AMOLED screen delivers deeper blacks and brighter visuals. It trades the X55’s specific hardware configuration for a premium display and contemporary Android capabilities, appealing to enthusiasts who value visual excellence.
