Meta Quest 3S vs Quest 2 specs
Processor power
The Meta Quest 3S 128GB VR Headset White uses the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 processor. Meta states this chip delivers two times the graphical processing power of previous generations. This hardware choice supports faster load times and smoother next-gen graphics. In contrast, the Meta Quest 2 128GB White VR Headset relies on a fast processor, but the specific model is not listed in the provided data. The Quest 3S explicitly highlights its superior graphics capabilities and responsive performance due to this newer silicon. This gives the 3S a clear advantage in raw computational strength for demanding VR titles.
Memory capacity
Memory plays a key role in how smoothly virtual worlds load and render. The Meta Quest 3S 128GB VR Headset White comes with 8GB of RAM. Meta notes this is 33% more memory than prior models, which helps deliver sharper graphics and more responsive performance. The Meta Quest 2 128GB White VR Headset data does not specify its RAM amount. Without that specific number, we cannot directly compare the memory capacity. However, the explicit 8GB figure in the 3S suggests a significant upgrade in multitasking and asset streaming capabilities compared to older standards.
Passthrough cameras
Mixed reality experiences depend heavily on camera quality. The Meta Quest 3S 128GB VR Headset White features dual RGB color cameras. These provide full-color, high-fidelity passthrough, allowing you to blend virtual objects with your physical space effectively. The Meta Quest 2 128GB White VR Headset data does not mention any passthrough cameras or mixed reality features. This indicates the Quest 2 likely relies on standard black-and-white passthrough or lacks this capability entirely. The 3S offers a superior visual bridge between your room and the virtual world.
Weight and build
Comfort during long sessions is influenced by device weight. The Meta Quest 3S 128GB VR Headset White weighs 1.14 pounds. This is a significant reduction compared to the Meta Quest 2 128GB White VR Headset, which weighs 1.83 pounds. The Quest 2 also lists physical dimensions of 10.2 inches in length, 7.36 inches in width, and 4.96 inches in height, giving you a sense of its bulk. The 3S is notably lighter, which may reduce neck strain. This weight difference is a practical advantage for extended wear.
Storage capacity
Both headsets offer the same amount of internal space for your games and apps. The Meta Quest 3S 128GB VR Headset White provides 128GB of storage capacity. The Meta Quest 2 128GB White VR Headset also offers 128GB of storage. This means you can install a similar library of titles on either device. Neither unit offers more space than the other in this configuration. For users who do not plan to store a massive local library, this shared capacity is sufficient. It is a perfect tie in this specific category.
